Did Moffatt seriously just spoil this

Cut for spoilers, duh. Moffatt-sanctioned, thus probably-not-all-that-episode-ruining spoilers but nonetheless :p

Anyway now let's move on to MORE SPOILERS, i.e. the synopsis of the first episode:

Adventures in a world of less gadgetry

Apparently when I was little, I didn't need computers to entertain me at all. No, I watched TV and I read books and I played in the backyard with my sister, and somehow, I liked it. Somehow.

Then I discovered computers and Neopets and the fact that CD players were pretty cool and somehow eight years went past without me caring about TV or playing in the backyard all that much. (Books are a different matter... books are more like, those things which are really cool, but I never seem to do as much with them as I'd really like. Although theoretically owning a Kindle now should fix that right up.)

I tell you this entire boring story as a prelude to telling you that I'm suffering from all kinds of gadget-related botheration right now. Read more... )

Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol

Look, I remembered I still had to write this post!! Yay :D

Anyway... I adored this year's Christmas special, I have to say. It was all timey-wimey and awesome, and although there were some things about it (well mainly one thing) that I didn't like, these/this is minor and overall, I still adored the episode :p

Apparently it was hard to follow without watching it the whole way through; my sister missed the start and my mother missed chunks out of the middle, and neither of them had any idea what was happening in the episode as a result. But I watched the whole thing, so I remember.

More under the cut! )

Lastly... HOW FUCKING AWESOME WAS THAT TRAILER. The fez!!!!!

I won NaNoWriMo!

NaNoWriMo winner 2010!BECAUSE THIS JOURNAL IS BRAND-NEW I didn't get to write in it about how I was doing NaNoWriMo or what my plot was, but I figure I can still write about how I won it ;D And I totally won it, although I won it on the 29th which is, I'm quite sure, the latest I have won any NaNoWriMo. (I did once finish JulNoWriMo on the 30th though! At 11.44pm, at that. And by "once" I mean "this year". I guess this is the year of finishing things on the second-last day...)

I explained the plot of this novel on my Dreamwidth and LiveJournal, or at least I explained the basic premise of it and then I started whinging about how there was too much gratuitous violence :P The premise of the novel is a civil war, essentially, so obviously there is a lot of violence that goes along with that. I do think my original outline went too far with it, though, so I'm going to tone it back when I start editing.

If you want to know about the premise in a little more detail, it's this: ... )

Soooo... although I've kind of gone back to the novel I was working on before NaNo, I want to finish this one as well and I want to do the idea justice. And tone down the gratuitous violence :x Both these novels are set in the same place (I use the "writing: kalambria" tag for both, btw), but they're disconnected enough that I don't know which it'd be better to finish first. Given that that one is more focused on one person, my NaNo novel is probably better as an introduction to the setting, but on the other hand the NaNo novel also takes place afterwards, so who knows. It probably doesn't matter at all.

Anyway, I think that's all that needed to be said :) I hope all other NaNoers had their own successes in it, too :D

Hi :)

Yes, I just created an InsaneJournal account. If this isn't obvious from the fact that this exists now ;) Ummm to be honest, I already have a bunch of journals, like at Dreamwidth and LiveJournal and even on my own site so in all likelihood this journal will either hold nothing, or reposted content from one or more of those sources. But I'll probably participate in communities or something with this journal so it's not a total waste :D

That is all. For now.

Edit: ok just to be clear about this. I am 99% sure that I will repost stuff from Dreamwidth on this journal, just like I already crosspost from there to LiveJournal :) I don't think I can crosspost to multiple journals unless/until I get a paid account at DW but I will do it manually if need be ;D
